Damage caused to river monitoring equipment

The Oromocto RCMP is investigating a case of mischief that caused damage to river monitoring equipment in Maugerville, N.B.

Sometime overnight between September 11 and 12, 2019, someone broke into the panel of an Environment Canada hydrometric substation, situated on the bank of the St. John River along Highway 102, near the Burton bridge. Significant damage was caused to the equipment, which is used to monitor water levels in the river.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen anyone in the area of the substation during that time, is asked to contact the Oromocto RCMP at 506-357-4300. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimenb.ca.
