Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide in Rocky View County - Update

On April 3, 2024, the Tsuut'ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County. While they were extinguishing the fire, human remains were located. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit was subsequently notified and deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4, 2024. The death is being investigated as a homicide.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are investigating and need assistance from the public. In consultation with his family, MCU are releasing this photograph of Kyle.

On April 3, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Tsuut'ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County. While they were extinguishing the fire, human remains were located. Cochrane RCMP and the Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service both attended the location. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit was subsequently notified and deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4, 2024. Police are treating the death as a homicide.
